Doba fixace je ale u obou typů znehybnění obdobná, protože kost se hojí stejnou rychlostí u jakéhokoliv zvoleného materiálu, tj. sádry, plastu (odlehčená „sádra“) nebo karbonu (nový typ fixace, který vidíte na fotografii).
Některé nemocnice v ČR nabízí za příplatek fixaci zlomeniny novým typem „sádry“. Výhodou je prodyšnost a to, že se s fixací lze koupat.

Nový typ fixace vyjde na pár tisícikorun podle typu zlomeniny. Základem je karbonová konstrukce, na ni je nanesena měkká pěna. Fixace nesmí pacienta tlačit.
Fixovat lze ruku i nohu. Jde jen o to, zvolit správný typ.
Výhradní dovozce nabízí tři typy nové fixace. Každý v několika velikostech.
„Letní sádra“ je určena dětem i dospělým. Lékaři ji zatím používají zejména na zlomeniny, při kterých kosti nejsou tzv. dislokované, tedy ve špatném postavení. Teoreticky je možné s ní fixovat ale jakoukoliv zlomeninu.
Nasazování a sundávání fixace provádí vždy zdravotník. Ten vybere správnou velikost fixace, nahřeje ji, přiloží na ruku (pacienta to ale nepálí), připne spojkami a dotvaruje strečovou fólií.
Novinku lze oproti klasické sádře díky spojkám velmi rychle nasadit i sundat.

Na lehké „sádry“ coby nadstandard při zlomenině si lékaři a pacienti už pomalu zvykli. Nyní je na trhu ale jiná novinka – fixace z karbonu, která je výrazně pohodlnější v horkém počasí. Pacienti si ji ale musí platit sami.

Nový typ „letní sádry“ vypadá poněkud futuristicky. A tak trochu připomíná výrobek z 3D tiskárny. Ve skutečnosti jde ale o zdravotnický prostředek v podobě karbonového výlisku vypodloženého měkkou pěnou.

Jde tedy o materiál z uhlíkového vlákna. Karbon se obecně používá tam, kde je potřeba vysoká pevnost, nízká hmotnost a moderní vzhled.

Za „sádru“ si připlatíte

Ve skutečnosti tato „sádra“ není určena jen pro horké letní měsíce, fixovat zlomeninu s ní lze celoročně. Patří ovšem mezi nadstandardní zdravotní službu, takže si ji pacient zaplatí. Např. v nemocnici v Uherském Hradišti, jež o používání nové technologie nedávno informovala v tiskové zprávě, vyjde tato „sádra“ na zlomeninu zápěstí na částku 2500 Kč a u zlomeniny předloktí či lokte činí cena 4100 Kč.

Právě v létě ale lze ocenit její přednosti, protože tato forma fixace končetiny je lehká, vzdušná a odolává vodě. Nicméně protože jde o teplocitlivý materiál (nesnese teploty nad 45 °C), nelze s ní do sauny. 

Pro děti i dospělé

I když má „sádra“ velké otvory, fixuje podle lékařů stejně jako ta klasická nebo připlácená plastová. „Jedná se o plnohodnotnou variantu fixace zlomenin pro děti i dospělé,“ přiblížil novinku lékař traumatologického oddělení Uherskohradišťské nemocnice Martin Vybíral.

Nasazení novinky je rychlé, trvá do 20 minut. Zdravotník nejprve plochý výlisek rozehřeje, poté jej přiloží na ruku (pacienta však materiál díky pěně na povrchu nepálí) a sepne plastovými svorkami. Následuje vytvarování pomocí běžné strečové fólie. O tom, kdy je nutné fixaci sundat, rozhoduje lékař, ale i v případě této novinky je nutné počítat třeba i s týdny. K sejmutí lékaři stačí jen odstranit plastové spojky.

Zatím jen pro určitý typ zlomenin

Jak upozorňuje dovozce, „sádru“ lékař nesmí nikdy utahovat tak, aby ruku škrtila. pacienta materiál také nesmí nikde tlačit, a to ani třeba na loketním či zápěstním kloubu. Pokud tlačí, má to s lékařem ihned konzultovat. Ostatně porada s lékařem je namístě také před nasazením „sádry“ pacientovi s mimořádně citlivou pokožkou. 

„Použití fixace musí vždy posoudit ošetřující lékař. Zpočátku bude jistě vyhrazena spíše nedislokovaným zlomeninám, tedy bez posunu úlomků kostí, a lehčím úrazům, nicméně se domnívám, že její použití nebude v budoucnu zapovězeno ani u komplikovanějších zlomenin či pooperačních fixací. Musíme však postupovat obezřetně a v těchto případech postupně získat více zkušenosti s její aplikací,“ podotýká Martin Vybíral.

Dosud se jako nadstandard používaly při fixaci zlomenin tzv. odlehčené, tedy plastové fixační prostředky. „Letní sádra“ má ale jinou konstrukci a odlišné funkční vlastnosti. Kromě toho, že snese vodu, je vzdušná, takže pacienty netrápí svědění ani zápach. Tvar novinky také předchází tomu, aby se v „sádře“ zachycovaly třeba kamínky nebo písek. Novinka proto může pacientovi umožnit, aby si bez většího omezování užil třeba dlouho plánovanou dovolenou. 

Podle vyjádření výhradního dovozce byla novinka uvedena na trh na jaře roku 2022, kdy ji odebírala jen čtyři zdravotnická zařízení, aby ji otestovala. Širší marketingové podpory se nový typ fixace dočkal až v polovině května 2023 a v současné době s ním pracuje 19 zařízení po celé ČR.  Jak redakci Vitalia.cz sdělil zástupce výhradního dovozce, lékař Tomáš Ješina, za dobu, kdy je novinka na trhu, se jí zatím prodalo 1300 ks.
