Že čaje jsou bohatým zdrojem pesticidů, je veřejným tajemstvím. Aktuální výsledky, které zveřejnil časopis dTest, odhalily množství pesticidů a jedovatého plevele i v bylinných čajích, včetně těch speciálně určených dětem.

Podle statistik se nejvíc bylinných čajů prodá od listopadu do února, kdy řádí virózy a nachlazení. Spotřebitelé oprávněně očekávají, že pití vylouhovaných bylinek jejich zdravotnímu stavu prospěje. Kvalitu použitých bylinek dTest otestoval a přinesl nepříjemná zjištění – třetina testovaných čajů propadla kvůli přítomnosti pesticidů a jedovatého plevele. Nedostatečné hodnocení si kvůli vysokému množství pesticidů odnesly také dva čaje určené dětem.

Ze široké nabídky si dTest posvítil na bylinné směsi, které jsou běžně k dostání v českých obchodech. Nakoupil jedenáct druhů porcovaných bylinkových čajů, jeden sypaný čaj a nechal v nich laboratorně ověřit obsah vybraných nežádoucích látek v použitých bylinách.

Jedy v bylinných čajích

Jednou z nich byly tzv. pyrrolizidinové alkaloidy (PA), což jsou chemické sloučeniny, kterými se rostliny brání zejména před býložravci. Vysoké dávky těchto alkaloidů mohou vést k akutnímu selhání jater, přesto u nás neexistuje žádný zákonný limit, který by omezoval jejich množství. Při porovnání se zahraničím však byl v testu objeven čaj, který by například v sousedním Německu překročil doporučenou hranici více než dvojnásobně. „V našem testu jsme množství PA vztáhli k hodnotě, na které se shodují Evropský úřad pro bezpečnost potravin (EFSA) a německý Spolkový úřad pro vyhodnocování rizik. Německé úřady pro kontrolu potravin stahují z trhu čaje, ze kterých by dospělý člověk mohl reálně přijmout 6 µg PA za den,“ vysvětluje Hana Hoffmannová, šéfredaktorka časopisu dTest a dodává: „V našem testu překročil tuto hranici jeden výrobek, a to čaj Babička Růženka Sedmero bylin, u kterého jsme zjistili v jednom nálevovém sáčku 13,4 µg PA.“

Dalším typem jedů, na které se dTest zaměřil, byly tropanové alkaloidy (TA), konkrétně atropin a skopolamin. Kvůli těmto látkám již dříve stáhla Státní zemědělská a potravinářská inspekce (SZPI) z trhu zhruba před rokem dva výrobky – Loyd Herbal Tea Máta s brusinkou a Babička Růženka Sedmero bylin s echinaceou, kdy tisíce kusů tohoto čaje označila SZPI jako nevhodné ke konzumaci. „Čaje stejných značek jsme také podrobili kontrole. Výrobce Mokate se evidentně poučil z minulých chyb, protože z hlediska tropanových alkaloidů byly jeho čaje v našich testech v pořádku,“ popisuje Hana Hoffmannová a dodává: „Spotřebitelům doporučujeme vyhnout se čaji Tesco Mix of Herbs, ve kterém laboratoř zjistila množství atropinu 190 µg/kg a skopolaminu 98 µg/kg. Kvůli tomuto prohřešku jsme podali podnět SZPI.“

Koktejl pesticidů: bohužel i v čajích pro děti

Při pěstování bylin používají zemědělci v boji proti škůdcům chemické přípravky obsahující pesticidy. Ty se mohou dostat až do finálního výrobku a toxicky působit na vývoj nervové soustavy. Laboratoř odhalila, že ve dvou čajích pesticidy přesáhly legislativní limity. Byly to čaje Tesco Mix of Herbs (překročení maximální hodnoty pro herbicid linuron) a Dr. Popov Zdravínek pro děti (překročení maximální hodnoty pro fungicid tetraconazol). „Zarazilo nás, kolik zbytkových pesticidů obsahují čaje určené dětem. Nejhůře jsme ohodnotili výrobek firmy Oxalis Naše byliny Dětský čaj, ve kterém laboratoř zjistila pozůstatky dvanáct různých pesticidů. Ve dvou dalších čajích pro děti – Apotheke Dětský bylinný čaj pro běžné pití a Dr. Popov Zdravínek pro děti – jsme odhalili pět, respektive sedm reziduí pesticidů,“ komentuje Hana Hoffmannová.

Agrochemický koktejl obsahovaly také čaje pro dospělé; čaj Valdemar Grešík Sedmikvítek obsahoval osm pesticidů, Babička Růženka Sedmero bylin pět pesticidů. Celkem tři výrobky (Loyd, Jančův čaj a Valdemar Grešík) obsahovaly pesticid DDT, který přetrvává v životním prostředí ještě z dob před rokem 1974, kdy byl zakázán. Nálezy u prvních dvou jmenovaných se pohybovaly o řád níže, než je zákonný limit, hodnota u čaje Valdemar Grešík byla na jeho polovině.

Velmi dobře nebo dobře skončily pouze čtyři čaje (Lipton Herbal Infusion Alps Breeze, Teekanne Mountain Herbs, Sonnentor Děkuji Bylinný čaj a Jančův čaj Bylinná směs), které byly z pohledu zjišťovaných nežádoucích látek v pořádku.

Je na místě připomenout, že hodnocení dTestu vychází z principu předběžné opatrnosti, podle kterého mohou nahromaděné chemické látky způsobovat nevyzpytatelný koktejlový efekt. Je třeba hodnotit dlouhodobý vliv „chemické polévky“, varují vědci s tím, že efekt chemikálií kolem nás nelze posuzovat jednotlivě a je třeba jej sčítat.
