Prasečí chřipka

Onemocnění způsobuje vir A/H1N1 a příznaky jsou velmi podobné běžné sezónní chřipce. Inkubační doba se pohybuje v rozmezí 1 až 7 dnů. Nemocní dospělí mohou ostatní osoby nakazit přibližně po dobu prvních 5 dnů, (nejčastěji den před vypuknutím prvních příznaků a následně pak první 3 dny nemoci). Nemocné děti jsou stejně nakažlivé jako dospělí, jejich infekčnost je však zhruba prvních 7 dní od propuknutí chřipky.

Existují tři druhy přenosu infekce: vzduchem nebo prostřednictvím kapének při blízkém kontaktu s kýchajícími nebo kašlajícími infikovanými osobami, přímým kontaktem poté, co se ruka kontaminovaná infekčními kapénkami dotkne úst, nosu, očí a nepřímým kontaktem prostřednictvím jakéhokoliv předmětu (např. kliky u dveří), který je kontaminován infekčními kapénkami a kterého se dotknete či jej uchopíte. K přenosu nákazy pak dojde ze znečištěné ruky dotykem na sliznici očí, nosu či úst.

Chřipku vyvolanou virem A/H1N1 zpravidla doprovází horečka, která obvykle přetrvává 2 až 4 dny, při těžším průběhu onemocnění může trvat i déle. S horečkou, resp. zvýšenou tělesnou teplotou souvisí i zvýšené uvolňování chřipkového viru, přičemž pravděpodobnost přenosu nákazy na jiné osoby je v tomto období mnohonásobně vyšší. Mnozí lidé mohou chřipkový virus šířit ještě 24 hodin po odeznění horečky, hladina viru však bude již mnohem nižší.

Je velmi důležité, aby nemocní jedinci zůstali v domácí karanténě do doby, než chřipkové příznaky odezní (samozřejmě za předpokladu, že onemocnění nemá komplikovaný průběh nebo lékař nestanoví jinak). Pokud osoby nakažené pandemickou chřipkou budou dodržovat domácí karanténu, významně se sníží riziko šíření nákazy mezi ostatní lidi (viz Jak chránit děti před prasečí chřipkou?).
